Emotional Intensity is a trait that is often found in people who are highly sensitive, gifted, neurodivergent, or an empath.
Emotional Intensity is experienced as feeling emotions deeply, from the highest highs to the lowest lows.
Along with feeling deeply, the feelings of not being understood and accepted often accompany being emotionally intense. Those who are intense often experience loneliness as an outcast, an outsider, and the black sheep.
It can also mean that small things can greatly impact your mood, and you may be more sensitive to criticism or rejection.
Many emotionally intense women also strongly desire connection and intimacy with others. This can lead to a deep need for relationships and a fear of being alone. At the same time, it can also be challenging to navigate relationships when emotions are so strong, as it can be hard to communicate effectively and avoid conflicts.
On one hand, being emotionally intense can make you more empathetic and connected to others, as you may be more attuned to their emotions. However, it can also make you more vulnerable to emotional pain and stress, as your emotions may be more easily triggered.
Emotional Intensity consists of five traits:
- Emotional depth and passion
- Highly perceptive
- Creative potential and existential angst
- Empath and sensitivity
- Rich inner world
1. Emotional depth and passion:
- As emotionally intense, you feel extreme and experience both positive and negative emotions at high Intensity.
- When you fall in love, you fall head over heels.
- You're deeply passionate, and it's raw, and it's real. You love fiercely, and your depth allows strong emotional attachments to those you care about.
- You are wise beyond your years, yet at the same time, there is a child-like quality about you, an innocence.
- Feeling intense and passionate is part of who you are, and you experience it regularly within, even if you don't display this outside or reveal this side of yourself to others.
- Relationships are often difficult. You crave emotional depth, and finding someone receptive to your energy is difficult.
- Being so intense, when you do not honor your feelings or feel like you have been wronged in some way, you may experience episodes of acting out in rage and feeling out of control, which could develop into reactive patterns.
- Personalities with intuitive traits tend to be a little bolder in expressing ideas. When communicating deep, unconventional notions, it often involves strong emotions.
- A desire for deep connection and intimate relationships. You'd prefer to have a few close friends you know inside and out rather than a hundred people you know just on a surface level.
2. Highly perceptive:
- Being perceptive, you pick up the slightest details. This could include the nonverbal communication of others, such as body language, breathing patterns, facial expressions, voice tone, and even the silence and space between what is spoken.

3. Creative potential and existential angst:
- You are gifted at expressing yourself through creative self-expression mediums such as writing, speaking, art, or music. You are highly creative, even if you don't already know it.
- You are moved by emotional stimuli and resonate with beauty and art. If you are doing something you love, you can get completely lost in it.
- Emotional Intensity makes you prone to going through a dark night of the soul, a spiritual and existential crisis. This also gives you the most development potential.
- You are highly creative, and you feel most alive when you pursue your creative passions.
- From a young age, you are curious and ponder life's "whys and what for" questions. You yearn for a deep understanding of others and the world around you. Being highly inquisitive, you seek to grasp things beyond others' desire for comprehension truly.

- As highly imaginative, you can get lost in fantasy and daydreaming. You may have escaped to this world during childhood and still tend to do so as an adult.
- You have a very active mind that never ceases to stop. You can be quite entertained by your thoughts, as you're highly intellectual; however, you tend to overthink.
